Dear Friends,

It's Pisces Month!

Birthdays are a funny thing.

I have LOVED how our Stop Drop and Dance classes have organically turned into opportunities for easy birthday celebrations, outrageously fun dress-up themes and even non-profit fundraisers that have made huge impacts.

To be honest though, as an extroverted introvert myself, I can't say I love the attention when it's MY birthday.  Even though I teach classes and am up front all the time, it's not the same when "it's all about me."

But, as I've gotten older, I do also realize the fragility of life and how precious each and every birthday is.

I've come to understand that celebrating my birthday isn't "just about me" or how I feel about it.  It's actually about honoring others and their desire to "give" the gift of love, and it's my work to honor my own self-worth and "receive" the gift of love from friends and family.

I am grateful for all of you and your love, so tomorrow, Tuesday, March 11th, I will share the spotlight with my birthday twin, Karen Shelton, for a 60 minute Stop Drop and Dance class, followed by a short community gathering (or so I'm told....).

Please join us tomorrow in a MERMAID or turquoise theme and stay after class if you're free (and save the date for a casual karaoke night Wednesday, March 19th at Ranch Water)!

All classes are located at UUMarin, the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Marin, located at 240 Channing Way in San Rafael.

No Class This Wednesday or Thursday!

My daughter and I have begun to pack for our outdoor education field trip to Coloma this Wednesday through Friday, and we are going to be transported back into the 1800's and the Gold Rush!

Thank you to Marianne Jacobson for helping me brainstorm my Gold Rush name (yes, that was one of my chaperone requirements...) and I have officially settled on "Eureka Shakin!"  Funny enough, my daughter chose the name, "Golden Gracie!"

Wish us luck as it's now also forecasted to rain everyday starting Wednesday... oh boy oh boy!

Yes I can!!!

Happy International Women's Day!

During every Stop Drop and Dance class last week, we danced to a playlist made up of our favorite strong female music artists.

Then, on Saturday, we continued the celebration on the actual International Women’s Day wearing purple to represent justice, dignity and loyalty to achieving gender equality and empowering women and girls worldwide.

Thank you to Erin Meyers for sharing this quote:

“Even a single positive action lifting another woman up creates a ripple effect that carries on far beyond the original act and has an impact that’s difficult to measure. When you lift another woman up, you inspire others around you to do the same. And those opportunities continue to be passed on.”

Happy Birthday Rodney!

Last Saturday, we had the extreme pleasure of meeting Lisa Butcher’s special needs brother, Rodney, during our Stop Drop and Dance class!

For his birthday wish, he begged to spend the weekend with Lisa and since he loves music, she brought him to dance with us for the first time.

Rodney was so incredibly sweet and he was dancing, smiling and even would occasionally “whoop” with excitement!  If you can, please watch the video above with the sound on to see his sweetest "Thank you" and his joyful dancing!

Thank you Lisa for sharing your brother with us and what an amazing sister you are!

Everyone needs “2 Be Loved” and a little dancing in their life, don’t you agree?

Thank you Nicole Bailey for this perfect gift!

Whether you come to our classes or not...

my birthday wish is:

I hope you DANCE.

In your living room.

Or in your car.

With your family.

Or all alone.

Blasting the music.

Or singing a song.

During an event.

Or spontaneously.

When you're in a great mood.

Or when you're healing.

When the sun is shining.

Or it's raining outside.

There is always a reason to dance!

Love,

Eureka Shakin!
