Dear Friends,
Dancing Zombies!
I cannot begin to explain how excited I am to teach the official Michael Jackson "THRILLER" dance this Saturday, October 26th at 9:30am @UUMarin (240 Channing Way in San Rafael).
Please come at 9:30am SHARP so you do not miss the beginning of the choreography!
Our CRIMINALS dance class was so much fun last month, that I've decided to do more of these "pop up choreography" sessions, and even though I boycotted Michael's work for years... I've decided it's time to separate the art from the artist and embrace the most epic Halloween dance ever.
Rip up some old black/white/grey or red clothing, don't brush your hair, and apply some eyeshadow all over your face... and voila! You're a Zombie (yes, we are committing 100% to this costume, ok???).
All the moves will be broken down very slowly and we will repeat the movements many times until everyone is comfortable with the choreography. Then we will finish class (time permitting) by videotaping our dance in small and large groups!
Cause this is THRILLER!!!
Thriller Night!"

Rainbows in the Wild!
Last Wednesday on our WhatsApp Social Group for our Power With Grace community, Erin Meyers started the morning with a text at 7:29am that said:
"Look out your windows at the gorgeous rainbow!"
And just like that, the floods of texts came in from other dancers who took a photo of the magical rainbow.
Personally, I missed the rainbow sighting, but thanks to this WhatsApp group, I got to see so many rainbows during my otherwise gloomy start to the day!
What a beautiful surprise!
Join our WhatsApp group by scanning the QR code on the check-in table the next time you come to class!
"The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you got to put up with the rain."
- Dolly Parton
I was not able to teach this past weekend because I went with a few of my high school friends on a special girls trip to Nashville!
It was my first time there and some highlights definitely included:
- waiting standby for 2 hours to make it inside Bluebird, a local singer and songwriter cafe where so many artists such as Taylor Swift, started performing at
- visiting the Country Music Hall of Fame with exhibits honoring the best of the best
- walking and window shopping in the cute neighborhoods such as 12 South, The Gulch and Fifth & Broadway
- trying out places to eat like Milk and Honey, Five Daughters Donuts, Jeni's Ice Cream (everyday for me), Biscuit Love, Hattie B's, Jack's on Broadway, Goo Goo Clusters and discovering a new and hip 888 spot next to our hotel
- observing (but not participating in) the crazy Honky Tonk Broadway bars and the Pedal Tavern Party Bikes / Buses
What a fun and safe place to visit!
But the biggest highlight for me was feeling this sense that Nashville was truly a City of Dreams.
For the first time, I understood how country music is basically a deep, heartfelt and meaningful story, with a melody added on to it. I admired these musicians who dream so big that they all moved away from their homes and traveled to Nashville to pursue and share their passion. I left Nashville inspired that we should all listen to our hearts more and spend quality time doing what we love.
Don't get caught up in wanting everyone to like you.
The people who get you will be drawn to you.
So listen to what your heart is telling you.
And make it a part of your story.
What's your dream today?
Love,
Grace
