Dear Friends,
Classes will be cancelled next week from Saturday, April 6th to Saturday, April 13th!
One of the blessings of the pandemic was creating this website and membership site so that all our live classes could be recorded and taken on-demand later in the day or week!
Even if you normally can't attend 9:30am weekday classes because of work conflicts, or you are traveling, or I am traveling, you can still dance, lift weights, or stretch anytime it is convenient for you, from the comfort of your home or even a hotel gym!
All our classes from this week will be saved and kept on-demand so you can access them while I am away.
(Unlimited online classes are included in membership plans, or non-members can purchase classes a-la-carte from our on-demand website page).
Hope to see you this Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday at 9:30am before Spring Break!
See all our on-demand classes here!
Save the Date for These Special Events in April!
The calendar link above is constantly being added with new events. Please do not print it out! The best way to know our latest schedule is to read these weekly newsletters, check the website classes page, and bookmark this online calendar before you come so you don't show up when we're not there!
Guess what we just added on our calendar???
Michael Franti's Togetherness Tour on Saturday, August 24th at the Fox Theatre in Oakland!!!
Click on the link below to buy your own General Admission ($55 standing floor) ticket if you would like to join our Power With Grace community and carpool, sing, and DANCE together with Michael Franti live!!! Last year a bunch of us went together to watch Janet Jackson at Shoreline Amphitheater and it was a great way to get to know other dancers better and share a super fun night!
Please reply to this email if you have an idea for a birthday, fundraiser or special event that you would like to add on our calendar for April or beyond!
Awesome Since 1959!
Happiest 65th birthday to Andrea Spencer who curated a personalized 75 minute Stop Drop and Dance playlist last Thursday that left us hot and sweaty!
Andrea dances bigger, stretches deeper, and jumps higher (not kidding) than anyone else and we are so inspired by her energy on the dance floor! Thank you to Andrea who brought tulip clips for everyone to wear during class, and prepared refreshments and treats after class! Thank you also to Erin Meyers who got decorations, including the “Awesome Since 1959” birthday banner!
Loved Andrea’s finale moment at the end of class too, taking the perfect bow! You are all so inspiring in so many ways!
Happy Birthday Suneela!
It is SO heartwarming whenever a dancer’s ENTIRE family shows up at class to celebrate them! That’s what happened this past Saturday for Suneela’s birthday class: her husband brought their two young boys to class, plus Suneela’s sweet mother danced!
At the end of class, Suneela’s mom said that Suneela had a big smile on her face the entire class… and it’s a true statement! Suneela’s smile actually got bigger and bigger as class went on!
One final special note was that Suneela’s mother and family shared that they have been attending UUMarin, the church that we currently rent out for our weekday classes, since Suneela was a little girl! Isn’t that amazing??? We have such magical (divine) coincidences in our community!
Thank you to everyone who joined us on Saturday to celebrate Suneela, including two very special friends, Kristina and Tebo, who are currently visiting from Kliptown Youth Program in South Africa!
So honored to have them join class - thank you for bringing them Ms. Gonzalez, Ms. Dacus-Hare and Tiffany Gantus!
Glimmers
"I recently learned about a term called "glimmer" which is essentially the opposite of "trigger."
Glimmers are those micro moments in your day that make you feel joy, happiness, peace or gratitude.
Once you train your brain to be on the lookout for glimmers, the more these tiny moments will begin to appear."
As someone who has suffered from migraines since my teenage years, the word "trigger" is very common in my world. Alcohol is a trigger. Lack of sleep is a trigger. Bright light is a trigger. Stress is a trigger. I'm constantly avoiding triggers on a daily basis to try and prevent my migraines.
Just as triggers are all around me, I also know and believe that glimmers surround us too. All the time. However, we have to actually make the effort to see them. To feel them. To open our hearts to those glimmers.
I hope this quote inspires you to make it a habit to look for glimmers every moment and that they will bring you more joy, happiness, peace and gratitude.
Happy Easter friends,
Grace
