We're throwing a holiday party!
If you have not been to West End Nursery before, located at 1938 Fifth Avenue in San Rafael, it transforms into a festive "Christmas House" this time of the year. Our very own dancer, Barb Untermann, leads the entire set design including over 60 trees and 10,000 ornaments, among many other festive decorations!
Barb has generously offered to host a Power With Grace holiday gathering at the Christmas House this Thursday, December 19th from 7:30pm-9pm!
We have intentionally made it a SHORT time frame because we are all SO busy right now, but please try to join us if you can! It will be a somewhat structured time together where we will mingle, share and do a little bit of dancing of course!
Did you say... FORMAL???
Oh yes we did!!! Do you know how many ridiculous outfits we have worn for our dance classes? And we only see each other wearing workout clothes, sneakers and a blanket of sweat.
So let's switch it up.
Open your closets and RE-WEAR something from an old wedding, gala, party, etc that you loved but just have no opportunity to wear again.
Just one rule:
You are allowed to spend $0 on this formal!
(that includes dress, heels, makeup, hair, nails, purse, etc etc etc!)
Can't wait to see you! It's gonna be fun!

Remember that one of the benefits of a membership is that all our previous classes are recorded and are available on-demand, so even if live classes are cancelled, you can always get a workout from home on our website! Members have unlimited on-demand access and non-members can purchase classes a-la-carte!
All classes resume on Thursday, December 26th including a Black and Gold New Years Eve 9:30am class!

Happy Taylor Swift Themed Birthday Class Laura Briggs!
It has been a week of celebrations! We started last Tuesday with a 75 minute Stop Drop and Dance class for our birthday girl Laura Briggs!
Laura is a huge Taylor Swift fan and even brought her daughter two weekends ago to watch the last concert in Vancouver! So it was appropriate Laura requested a Taylor Swift themed dance class, and she helped inspire all of us by sending a “look book” with all the different Eras outfit ideas!
As expected, Laura also brought bracelets to share for the class! And at the end of class, we learned a new dance to an old song, “The Man,” and free danced to Laura’s favorites, “Shake It Off” and “22!” Thank you to Sandy Aley for decorating!
Happiest birthday Laura (and she inspired the next day's 75 minute Strength & Stretch playlist to be all Taylor Swift songs too!).
Happy 1980 Birthday Anne Kaplan!
We had so much fluorescent pink and leg warmer fun on Saturday morning celebrating Anne Kaplan for a Stop Drop And Dance class! Thank you to Anne for bringing all the fun headband and scrunchie accessories!
Even though it was gloomy, windy and rainy, we had a great turnout and there was electric energy from all the dancers that came in-person, including Anne’s twin 7th grade daughters who came to dance for their mama!
What made it extra special was that this was totally last minute. Anne literally decided to celebrate her birthday class 2 days before, and then just committed to making it happen! So much fun!

It’s hard to put into words the type of gratitude I have for this "The Power With Grace"and "Stop Drop and Dance"community.
Why?? Why is this community so so so special?
Because for a dancer to take the first step to even come to class and to keep coming back, or for a non-dancer who just supports and reads my newsletters each week, means that we all care deeply about something in common:
We are all learning to give ourselves GRACE.
Permission to be imperfect.
Permission to make mistakes.
Permission to be vulnerable.
Permission to not criticize.
Permission to leave all the drama at the door.
When we learn to RECEIVE grace, we learn to GIVE grace to others and ourselves, and the culture that creates is MAGICAL.
Unconditional love.
Understanding and compassion.
Unyielding faith in goodness.
Unbelievable support.
Uncontrollable joy.
That is the secret behind “The Power With Grace.”
Dancing is just the glue that brings us together...
But it is also the birthday celebrations in class,
the broken and beautiful special events,
the high-fives, the hugs,
the tears,
the once a month after class potlucks,
the hilarious outfits,
the karaoke and concert nights,
the retreats to Tulum, Belize, and next year to Bali (3 spots left!),
the fundraisers (this year over $100,000 raised!),
the WhatsApp chat of randomness…
I never knew I needed GRACE as much as I do. We all do.
Life is a dance, and I’m thankful you’re dancing with me through it.
